Holy Nut Burgers!!!

What does holy nut burgers mean…….I don’t know…….  It’s what flew out my mouth when I saw this picture of Wes and Laurel start to form.  Gorgeous light, beautiful couple and a Geisha umbrella to act as a cherry on top.

Sometimes things just go right.  I didn’t plan for any of the above except the location.  God provided the light, and Laurel just happen to have the umbrella, which was a surprise to me.  The best things are not commonly planned.  You can plan for the day and make all the details materialize, but the moments will be their own.  We can try to dictate them, but all the different forces will always rule.  Enough with the deep thoughts.  I don’t where any of that come from because it’s so not me.  I’m the chic yelling out holy nut burgers.

Ok, back on track.  Laurel and Wes were married at West End United Methodist and the reception was at the Parthenon.  As you can tell from the pictures everyone had a great day.  Once again Helen Morisette was the wedding planner, and once again she did an amazing job.  I tell you what, she’ll make your life easier and she for sure makes my life easier.

When a groomsman fears a photographer

Emily and Wells had an amazing wedding at the Belle Meade Plantation.  Sweet couple with amazing pictures!  They looked so good together that all I had to do was show up and release the shutter.  Helen Morisette was the planner.  Everything went just as planned.  Nothing crazy happened.  No rain.  It was hot, but it could have been so much worse.  We are in Tennessee, and it is July.

So what am going to talk about?  Let’s talk about the flask in my purse.  No I do not make a habit of toting around hooch.  Gentlemen, don’t get your hopes up.  Here’s the story.  I called Helen about an hour before I was to be at the plantation to make sure everything was on schedule.  All was well, but she said that Emily was a little nervous.  Really who wouldn’t be.  After getting off the phone I had the idea to pull out my flask.  The plan was to give it to Emily to make her laugh and loosen up.  I knew she would refuse the drink, but I filled up the flask with Single Barrel just in case.  It all went down as planned.  She laughed and refused the relaxing beverage.

I’m getting all the pictures and everything is going incredibly smooth.  Then it came time to take pictures of the groom and his groomsmen.  I’ve never seen a group of men be so fearful of a 5 foot 2 inch female.  One of the groomsmen, who will remain nameless, was the stiffest subject I’ve ever worked with in 13 years.  I try to move him three different times and he is asking me 20 questions about how to stand and what to do with his hands.  It’s really sweet when you think about it.  He just wanted to do the right thing for the pictures.  Anyway, I was working towards getting a casual picture of the guys and Stiffy Stifferson was killing the vibe.  I finally decided I had no other choice than to provide him with the contents of the flask that was still in my bag.  Oh the faces on those guys when shiny silver container appeared.  My street cred was officially established.

With that being said here are some images.  Gorgeous couple, gorgeous day!!!!

Kayce and Brady

This wedding pulled at the old heart strings for sure.  A few years back I worked with the youth group at church, which meant being a camp counselor, going on mission trips and meeting every Sunday morning.   What does this have to do with a wedding?  Kayce, and handful her bridesmaids, were a part of the youth group while I served.  I rarely have a time when I feel like I’m maturing (did you notice I didn’t say getting older).  As long as I don’t pay attention to the fact that these kids are not kids anymore, and they are now getting married, I’m cool.

Anyway, Kayce’s wedding was super gorgeous and Brady is super cute!  They had the wedding and reception at church.  We were able to do the pictures off site at a mansion located across the street.  Everything went smoothly and the day was perfect!

Hey Jesse!  I’m sorry I didn’t post this wedding sooner.  :o )

This is when they saw each other for the firs time.  Look at those sweet faces!!

THANKS KENNA!!!  You did an amazing job!

Is she Audrey or Grace???

Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly?  You tell me.  Whoever she is she did it with such amazing style and grace.  She’s in a Oscar De La Renta to top it off.  Absolutely LOVE IT!!!!

Jenifer and Wesley were married at West Minister and the reception was at the Richland Country Club.  Wesley didn’t want to see Jenifer before the ceremony, so she planned the wedding as early as possible.  She knew she couldn’t go all day without seeing him.  I applaud her decision.  She was able to spend the day with the man she loves, and a formal 11am wedding, with a brunch to follow, never hurt anyone.

Wait! Is that a classroom floating down Interstate 24?!?!?

The weekend of May 1st, 2010 will go down in history for Nashville.  Why?  Well, Middle TN received 12-17 inches of rain in less than 48 hours.  This left devastating effects for the region!  However, something good did come out of it, Kati and Matt were happily married.

Getting to the wedding at Cedarwood Mansion was no joke for anyone.  A few roads had just begun to flood as I pulled out of my garage.  Powerful rains resulted in some serious white knuckle driving.  Both the bride and myself had to use Interstate 24 to get to the wedding.  Come to find out that in the wake of our path the interstate flooded and a mobile classroom from Lighthouse Christian Academy floated onto the interstate.  150 cars had to be abandoned at the scene.  This is just the tip of the iceberg to a very long week here in the Mid-State.

During the treacherous drive Kati, the bride, began to wonder if God wanted her to get married at all.  Her mom responded with, “He’s just giving you a second chance to to change your mind.  Are you changing your mind?”  Kati answers with a very quick “NO!!! I’m getting married TODAY!!!”  Her mom said “Well, okay then!  Let’s go!”

That being said once the bride, groom, bridal party, immediate family and the minister had arrived at Cedarwood safely it was known that the show could/must go on!!!  Don’t get me wrong there were many heavy hearts.  However it was safer to stay put….. so why not have a beautiful wedding.  I made the best of the situation as well.  We were blessed to have the rain slow to a sprinkle with only short bursts of down pour.  I was able to get some really cute images of the bridal party with umbrellas and also some sweet shots of the couple under the front porch of the mansion.  Long story short the pictures look great!

I know Alanis Morissette sang it was ironic to have rain on your wedding day, but I like the school of thought that rain is lucky.  I’m going with that!!!  What does it mean if Matt and Kati were married during a historical 500-1000 year flood?  Man, they’ll be married past death due us part!!!

With all the above said, here is the feed back from Kati.  I’m humbled by her sweetness.

Thank you so much, the pictures are amazing. I can’t believe you made it look like such a beautiful day outside (we know the real story).  We can’t express enough what you did to make our day so special. Thank you for everything, we will never forget our day or the role you played in it.

Thanks Kati and Matt

Herding Cats

Joel and Morgan make me smile and laugh with joy when I think about this couple.  Both artist, Morgan a painter and Joel a writer, buried their way in to my heart the first time I met them.  I understood immediately that shooting their wedding would be incredibly rewarding, but I quote them from the day of the wedding “Herding cats could possibly be an easier task”.

They were having such a great time, and the agenda was flexible.  Rolling with the punches, and loving every minute of it, was the only way to get the images that we wanted.  Dealing with artists is a totally different experience than working with the type A bride that has a schedule that is sturdier than the glass of an armored truck.  It was very funny to watch and it was also a refreshing experience.  They were great and the wedding was a success!!!

BTW, the wedding was at a cute little historic house in downtown Franklin and the reception was at Legends Country Club.  All this went down on the weekend of April 24th.

A shot of his face when she’s coming down the aisle

That was the most important shot of the day as far as Allison was concerned.  I like the shot and when it’s possible I do try to get it.  However, most guys don’t want to let their guard down in front of 200 people.  Who can blame them.  She came through the doors and this is what I saw.

Soooo Sweet!!!!  But is this common?  NO!!!  I love it.  Heck, he made me cry too.

Allison and Bret were married at the Cathedral and the reception was at Union Station.

Lauren and Davis

Lauren and Davis!!!  So very sweet and so very fun!!  They were married on January 16th at Woodmont Baptist and the reception was at the Belle Meade Plantation.  It rained that night, but it didn’t matter.  Lauren decided that if the weather was rainy she would always love rainy weather.  My kind of girl!!  Davis made me smile when he came up to me at the reception and thanked me for coming out in spite of the weather.  Hell or high water I was going to be there regardless.  I just thought it was so amazing that Davis noticed and appreciated that it wasn’t easy to work under those conditions.  Thank you Davis.  My job is hard but rewarding.  In the end it ends up being a labor of love.  When people recognize that it warms my spirit.

Kirsten & Allen

Can you say fun couple?  This is them.  So cute, beautiful and sweet.  When I did their engagement session I knew I was in for a treat.  Their wedding was at Covenant Pres and the reception was the Parthenon.  Elizabeth James was the coordinator, so you know everything was drop dead gorgeous.  Two different types of grits on the buffet and ice cream in the place of the groom’s cake.  I was in heaven with this wedding.

Ashley and Jared

Ashley and Jared were married on August 29th at West End Methodist and the reception was Union Station.  The weather was perfect!  The people were perfect!  All her vendors were perfect!  Everything was perfect!  Need I say more?!?!?

Andy Cam did the video for this wedding!  Here’s a link.
