Holy Nut Burgers!!!

What does holy nut burgers mean…….I don’t know…….  It’s what flew out my mouth when I saw this picture of Wes and Laurel start to form.  Gorgeous light, beautiful couple and a Geisha umbrella to act as a cherry on top.

Sometimes things just go right.  I didn’t plan for any of the above except the location.  God provided the light, and Laurel just happen to have the umbrella, which was a surprise to me.  The best things are not commonly planned.  You can plan for the day and make all the details materialize, but the moments will be their own.  We can try to dictate them, but all the different forces will always rule.  Enough with the deep thoughts.  I don’t where any of that come from because it’s so not me.  I’m the chic yelling out holy nut burgers.

Ok, back on track.  Laurel and Wes were married at West End United Methodist and the reception was at the Parthenon.  As you can tell from the pictures everyone had a great day.  Once again Helen Morisette was the wedding planner, and once again she did an amazing job.  I tell you what, she’ll make your life easier and she for sure makes my life easier.

When a groomsman fears a photographer

Emily and Wells had an amazing wedding at the Belle Meade Plantation.  Sweet couple with amazing pictures!  They looked so good together that all I had to do was show up and release the shutter.  Helen Morisette was the planner.  Everything went just as planned.  Nothing crazy happened.  No rain.  It was hot, but it could have been so much worse.  We are in Tennessee, and it is July.

So what am going to talk about?  Let’s talk about the flask in my purse.  No I do not make a habit of toting around hooch.  Gentlemen, don’t get your hopes up.  Here’s the story.  I called Helen about an hour before I was to be at the plantation to make sure everything was on schedule.  All was well, but she said that Emily was a little nervous.  Really who wouldn’t be.  After getting off the phone I had the idea to pull out my flask.  The plan was to give it to Emily to make her laugh and loosen up.  I knew she would refuse the drink, but I filled up the flask with Single Barrel just in case.  It all went down as planned.  She laughed and refused the relaxing beverage.

I’m getting all the pictures and everything is going incredibly smooth.  Then it came time to take pictures of the groom and his groomsmen.  I’ve never seen a group of men be so fearful of a 5 foot 2 inch female.  One of the groomsmen, who will remain nameless, was the stiffest subject I’ve ever worked with in 13 years.  I try to move him three different times and he is asking me 20 questions about how to stand and what to do with his hands.  It’s really sweet when you think about it.  He just wanted to do the right thing for the pictures.  Anyway, I was working towards getting a casual picture of the guys and Stiffy Stifferson was killing the vibe.  I finally decided I had no other choice than to provide him with the contents of the flask that was still in my bag.  Oh the faces on those guys when shiny silver container appeared.  My street cred was officially established.

With that being said here are some images.  Gorgeous couple, gorgeous day!!!!

Reen and Jamie

This image was the first shot of the day, and it was to test my exposure.  Luckily it was right on!!  I love it when I can say “Well we can all go home now!  I got it!  That was gorgeous!!”.

This is Jamie’s backyard!  Yeah, I know…….  They’re lucky I didn’t pitch my tent.  Angie’s moving in.

Kayce and Brady

This wedding pulled at the old heart strings for sure.  A few years back I worked with the youth group at church, which meant being a camp counselor, going on mission trips and meeting every Sunday morning.   What does this have to do with a wedding?  Kayce, and handful her bridesmaids, were a part of the youth group while I served.  I rarely have a time when I feel like I’m maturing (did you notice I didn’t say getting older).  As long as I don’t pay attention to the fact that these kids are not kids anymore, and they are now getting married, I’m cool.

Anyway, Kayce’s wedding was super gorgeous and Brady is super cute!  They had the wedding and reception at church.  We were able to do the pictures off site at a mansion located across the street.  Everything went smoothly and the day was perfect!

Hey Jesse!  I’m sorry I didn’t post this wedding sooner.  :o )

This is when they saw each other for the firs time.  Look at those sweet faces!!

THANKS KENNA!!!  You did an amazing job!

Bubble Gum Giggles

I love the different ways, and the lengths that will be taken by a mommy and a daddy to make Jr. smile.  I’ve seen so many faces and heard so many voices.  Some of which I’m positive are used during important corporate meetings.  Anyway, Kellan’s mom opened what should have been an obvious avenue, she pulled out the bubble gum.  No, not for the kid!!!!  She chewed and started blowing crazy huge bubbles.  13 years of photographing kids, why haven’t I thought of that!?!?!?  Look at that face.  I’m pretty sure I still make this very expression when someone blows a bubble in my presence.  Hilarious!!!

Kellan’s doing a little thinking.  You know “Kellan time”.

Stupid Radar Always Gettin’ Me Down

It’s been like a month since I mentioned the weather.  I think that could be a record for me.  It seems like the forecast is usually the main down fall of my job.  Oh! and not finding the time to go to the bathroom at weddings is the other major down fall.  I’m talking floating eyeballs.  Otherwise my job ROCKS!!!  Anyway, I was heading out to Carly and Chad’s engagement session at Ellington Ag Center.  I noticed my wind chimes were being suspiciously loud.  Drat….. weather is coming.  I had purposely not looked at Weather Underground thinking, just like most girls, if I ignore it it WILL go away.  Nope, not going away this time.  I called Carley and she thought it will be more of an adventure if we hurried and beat the storm.  I was down with that.  I got to Ellington and the pictures were done in just a few minutes flat.  I’ve gotta say I’m a little proud.  Part of what I do is make the best of what I’m given.  This is a great example of shooting quickly and dealing with the elements.  There were a ton of great ones BTW :o )

Thanks Carley and Chad for all the laughing (which we did the WHOLE time).  I had a blast!!!

Is she Audrey or Grace???

Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly?  You tell me.  Whoever she is she did it with such amazing style and grace.  She’s in a Oscar De La Renta to top it off.  Absolutely LOVE IT!!!!

Jenifer and Wesley were married at West Minister and the reception was at the Richland Country Club.  Wesley didn’t want to see Jenifer before the ceremony, so she planned the wedding as early as possible.  She knew she couldn’t go all day without seeing him.  I applaud her decision.  She was able to spend the day with the man she loves, and a formal 11am wedding, with a brunch to follow, never hurt anyone.
